The Problem
Workplace misconduct and unethical treatment of the workforce is a massive problem. Behavioral issues at work are only getting work, and the root cause lies in the poorly designed workplace environment. HR departments are not designed to protect the workforce, but rather, are there to protect the company.
The trust between the workforce and HR is broken. As a result, employees not only suffer due to the common mishandling of basic employment issues, but also silently suffer and accept various forms of discrimination, harassment, and wrongful termination due to the fear of losing their source of income and retaliation.
Even the most seasoned HR professionals are limited in how much they can do as they exist to protect the company from lawsuits and are forced to do what it takes to mitigate damage to the company reputation - and bank account.
Companies will capitalize on the fact that employees are not well-informed about their rights and legal protections. Many smaller orgs frequently don’t have HR departments, resulting in negligence and mishandling of complaints by under-qualified staff.
Employees are still getting taken advantage of when already in a distressed state and pressured into signing documents that sign away their rights.

Our Solution
We aim to provide employees with the resources they need to understand how to protect themselves and proactively create boundaries that prevent companies from engaging in unethical and illegal behavior in the first place.
Privacounsel is an external HR resource - we do not have loyalty to any company or leadership that internal HR departments would. Our mission is to provide employees with the HR advice that internal HR departments should be giving, but fail to given the inherent conflict of interest.
We are not acting as legal counsel or providing legal advice. We’re an unbiased HR team that will tell you what your company’s HR department can’t. We’ll help you navigate the HR system and connect you with the right help based on your unique situation.
